Group Services

Centro Sanar offers both therapeutic groups and social support groups. Therapeutic groups use clinical interventions to address specific symptoms and achieve goals. Support groups are co-lead by our team and community members and are ongoing spaces of support for individuals with shared life-experiences. 

All groups are offered in Spanish only. Therapeutic groups are closed groups, co-facilitated by our clinicians that last 8 to 10 weeks. Please call our intake line to sign up for a group:
  • Fall (September Start) and Spring (April Start) Season Groups:
    • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and Somatic Experiencing
  • Winter (January Start) Season Group:
    • Psychoeducation Group

EMDR Group:

A therapeutic group for people seeking to heal emotional wounds caused by one or more interpersonal relationships; learning therapeutic techniques to process emotions and regulate the nervous system.

SE Group:

A therapeutic group to learn the basics of Somatic Experiencing and Mindfulness to support your recovery from trauma. You will learn how trauma impacts your mind, body, and relationships. The group includes practice in releasing suppressed emotions in the body in order to experience more joy and fulfillment in life.

Psychoeducation Group:

This group offers information and connection to its members. We will learn the basics of various mental health related topics, while also creating connections between our lived experiences and our emotional well-being. You will also learn valuable skills to develop healthy social supports.

Family Wellbeing:

These groups center on the parent or caregiver and ensure they gain essential knowledge, skills, and practice in supporting their children's wellbeing. Groups cover topics like child development, adolescent mental health, communications, limit setting, and positive parenting.

Grupo CompasiĆ³n and Grupo Consuelo:

This program provides support for individuals and families from Southwest side neighborhoods (Grupo Compasion) and 60623 zip code (Grupo Consuelo) who have suffered a traumatic loss. This is an open and ongoing group that meets monthly for Spanish-speaking families who have specifically lost loved ones due to street violence, homicide, suicide, or overdose.
